Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents is a jazz festival held annually in Marseille in July. The first edition took place in 2000, and since then the festival has hosted great French and international jazz artists from all continents. The festival aims to enhance jazz as a universal music, capable of dialogue with other cultures and musical genres.

The festival takes place in several of the city’s emblematic venues, such as the Théâtre Silvain, the Mucem, the Palais Longchamp gardens, and the Stade Vélodrome. Two concerts can be attended each night, with a varied and quality programming, ranging from classical jazz to contemporary jazz, via blues, soul, funk and world musics.

Artists who have participated in the festival in past years include Thomas de Pourquery, Selah Sue, Avishai Cohen, Kool & the Gang, Youssou N’Dour, Jeff Mills, Emile Parisien, John Coltrane, Stacey Kent, and Manu Katché.

The festival also offers side activities, such as exhibitions, lectures, readings and meetings with artists.
