Christmas in Arles is marked by three major events.
The first is the International Santons Salon of Arles, which takes place from mid-November to mid-January.
This event, dedicated to the artisans of the colorful Provençal nativity figurines, the “Santonniers,” takes place in the cloister of the Saint-Trophime church. It is the largest exhibition in all of Europe and enjoys an excellent reputation.
The second event concerns the Drôles de Noëls. Shows dedicated to adults and children with circus, puppets, songs, magic, musical games, and stories. Fifty free performances over the four days of the festival: circus shows, puppets, songs, magic, musical games and stories.
Finally, there are the famous Calend’Arles. Throughout December, the city of Arles, its villages and hamlets will shine under beautiful illuminations, and families can enjoy a program of shows, exhibitions and events, combining Provençal traditions and contemporary creations.
