During the month of December, various Christmas-related events take place in Aix-en-Provence.
Aix-en-Provence, thanks to its history and a thousand fountains, has a perfect setting for Christmas events, which, in addition to the Marché de Noël, include the 13 Desserts Market and the Santons Fair.
The Christmas markets of Aix-en-Provence are full of stalls and wooden chalets where you can buy typical Provençal products, small pieces of local style handicrafts, souvenirs and typical sweets, but also appreciate the many works of art displayed by local artists.
From mid-November to the end of December, Cours Mirabeau, a long tree-lined avenue, festively lit for the occasion, teems with mouth-watering smells amid sweets and mulled via, sounds and atmospheres typical of Christmas.
The city celebrates Christmas with fairs, markets, concerts and shows for young and old.
In conjunction with Il Marché de Noël, there is the 13 Desserts Market (Il Marché des 13 Desserts), where farmers and artisans display Provençal culinary specialties, such as quince honey, olives, nougat, and many other delicacies.
Another event not to be missed is the Fair of Santons(Foire aux Santons), nativity figurines, originally from Aubagne, used to tell the story of the Nativity.
The fair offers an opportunity to discover the secrets of the nativity makers and to purchase all varieties of Santons.
